Valley Transit District Celebrates Renovation, Expansion

contributed Valley Transit District Dispatcher Dave O’Dell has seen a lot in his 40 years on the job — but since the VTD facility in downtown Derby was renovated this year, he sees a lot more.

The dispatch center in the building was upgraded from a small space with narrow vertical windows to a “fishbowl” office with large windows providing sightlines of the entire back entrance, parking lot, fueling stations and van wash bay.

The work was one of many recent upgrades to the 38-year-old building celebrated during a ceremony Tuesday (June 19).

Ansonia Announces Graffiti Cleanup

contributed More than 50 graffiti tags throughout Ansonia are being erased this week.

Graffiti will be removed from public and private buildings, churches, utility poles, and walls on Main Street, North Main Street, East Main Street, North State Street, Holbrook Street, Tremont Street, Liberty Street and Fourth Street, the city announced in a press release.

Boys & Girls Club Honors Coughlin, Walsh

The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley presented Raymond P. Lavietes Service to Youth Awards to Martin Coughlin and Jack Walsh at its annual Service to Youth Awards dinner held at the Stone Barn Restaurant at Whitney Farms Golf Course on June 12.

The Raymond P. Lavietes Service to Youth Award is the highest honor our Boys & Girls Club can bestow on an individual.

Griffin Hospital Seeks Advance Care Planning Volunteers
