SHELTON — A 2-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool on Copper Penny Lane Monday, according to police.
In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said police received a 911 call about 11 a.m. “regarding an unresponsive 2-year-old boy.”
“The boy was discovered in the swimming pool by a relative on Copper Penny Lane where he was staying for the day,” Bango said. “Shelton Police and EMS responded to the scene and the boy was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.”
Bango said an initial investigation by detectives “revealed the boy wondered outside from the house and fell in the pool before he was discovered by a relative, who was babysitting him for the day.”
The boy lived in Shelton with his parents, Bango said.
Police did not identify the boy.
Bango said the case remains under investigation.
