The Ansonia High School Band which performs at football and basketball home games, marches in the Ansonia Memorial Day Parade, and entertains hundreds of people in concerts and adjudications, will benefit from donations made to Ansonia Public Schools during The Great Give 2019!
This 36-hour online giving campaign will allow the AHS Band to purchase new instruments, replacing several that are nearly 18 years old. A video, which was created by AHS staff member Steve Judge, features two AHS Band members and performance photos:
AHS Music Teacher Maria Tangredi and a band student will be guests on the Valley Independent Sentinel’s live podcast on May 2 from 3 – 3:30 p.m. The interview will be carried on The Valley Indy’s Facebook page.
The Great Give starts at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and ends at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 2. Every gift will be amplified with matching money provided by The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and its affiliate, the Valley Community Foundation. There will also be numerous special prizes awarded throughout the campaign.

“Ms. Tangredi brought music back to Ansonia High School and to our community when she joined our staff 20 years ago,” said Dr. Carol Merlone, Superintendent of Schools. “All of the money raised in the campaign will be used to purchase instruments for the Band. Please spread the word to an Ansonia High Alumnus, a former Ansonia resident, and to anyone who may be able to make a pledge.”
