Ansonia Police Chief Kevin Hale To Retire

Chief Hale

The following information was sent by the Ansonia Police Department:

Chief Kevin J. Hale will be retiring from the Ansonia Police Department effective February 15, 2019.

Chief Hale has faithfully served the City of Ansonia since 1990, spending the last 18 years as the Chief. The Chief is leaving the Ansonia Police Department to pursue a job opportunity in the private sector.

Under the leadership of Chief Hale, the Ansonia Police Department has transformed the everyday operations of the department to include expansion of the Administrative Division and the Detective Bureau, the implementation of the School Resource Officer program, the formation of the Anti-Crime Unit and participation in Federal Task Forces. Chief Hale was instrumental in, and the driving force behind the approval, design and construction of the future home of the Ansonia Police Department.

The City of Ansonia, its citizens and the Police Department were well served by Chief Hale and he is owed a tremendous debt of gratitude. Good luck and best wishes in your future endeavors Chief Hale.

The following is a statement from Chief Kevin J. Hale:

It has been a privilege to serve as an Ansonia Police Officer for the past twenty-nine years, and an absolute honor to serve as the chief for the last eighteen. This is certainly a bittersweet decision in that while I have come to know the members of this excellent department as family and that I will miss them dearly, there comes a time when we have to move on. I leave knowing that the department is in good shape and that the design and construction of the new facility located at 505 East Main Street is moving along well. Further, the Board of Police Commissioners, always supportive of the department, will guide the process through which my successor is chosen.

I would like to thank my fellow department heads and their staffs, especially those in emergency services. I would also like to thank Mayor Cassetti and his staff, and the Board of Aldermen and BOAT for their support throughout the years.

Those of us in law enforcement have chosen the noblest of professions, and the members of this department are the best around. It has been such an honor to work with them for all these years and I wish them all well.

Finally, to the citizens of Ansonia, I want to thank you for the support that you have shown the department and myself throughout the years. I was born and raised in the North end of this City and Ansonia will always be a special place for me.”
