Car Hit By Gunfire In Ansonia

An empty vehicle was struck by gunshots in Ansonia Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said the department received a complaint of shots fired at the intersection of Star and Fifth streets about 3:40 p.m.

The first arriving officers found shell casings at the intersection and a parked and unoccupied vehicle had been struck by the gunfire,” Lynch said.

Cops didn’t locate any victims, and none have come forward since, Lynch said.

Residents reported seeing a white vehicle with out-of-state plates fleeing the area around the time of the shooting.

Lynch asked anyone with information to contact Officer Roussel at 203 – 735-1885.

In late November a man was shot on Howard Avenue in Ansonia. He lived, and that crime remains under investigation.
