The Derby boys indoor track team won the Class S state championship Saturday, school and city officials announced.
Derby track and field in general has become a powerhouse the last few years.
“Ken Little won the 1000, Ja’kwan Hale won the high jump and Tristan Pruzinsky won the shot put,” according to The New Haven Register.
Mayor Rich Dziekan offered his congratulations to the team on his Facebook page Sunday.
“The track program continues to make us proud! A shout out to the Wrestlers who enjoyed success at the Berkshire Valley Tourney as well. DHS Sports are on a roll!,” the mayor’s Facebook page read.
