Disney world here they come.
The Derby Pop Warner Jr. Pee Wee and Jr. Midget Cheerleaders are headed to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, to compete at the Pop Warner National Championships.
The competition is scheduled to take place December 3 – 7, 2012 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Jr. Pee Wee squad is made up of 16 girls ages 9 – 10. The Jr. Midget squad is made up of 17 girls ages 12 – 14.
Both teams captured the titles of State Champions and Southern CT Champions.
The Jr Pee Wee’s qualified for the National Championship by finishing in 2nd place at the New England Championship, where only the top 2 teams in each division throughout New England move on to Nationals.
The Jr. Midgets placed first and earned the title of New England Champions.
Each child traveling to the National Championship is responsible for their own travel expenses. Fundraising will begin this week to help defray travel costs.
