Farmer: I’ve Been A Fighter My Whole Life

Press play to watch a video interview with Justin Farmer, a Legislative Councilman in Hamden, who is running as a Democrat for the 17th State Senate District seat.

That seat is currently held by Sen. George Logan, R‑Ansonia.

Farmer isn’t the only Democrat running.

Jorge Cabrera is the party’s officially endorsed candidate.

Farmer and Cabrera face off in a Democratic primary Aug. 11. Click here for an interview with Cabrera.

The 17th state Senate district includes Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Derby, Hamden, Naugatuck and Woodbridge.

In this interview, Farmer talks about why he decided to push Cabrera into a primary even though Cabrera almost beat the incumbent two years ago.

Farmer also talks about what it’s like to campaign in the COVID age, being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome in high school (he’s now a 26-year-old part-time college student at Southern who is self-employed in property management), and why he wants to help govern in Hartford.
