Dear Senior Parents and Guardians,
Graduation day is quickly approaching!
This year, the Class of 2019 will graduate at the newly completed Payden Park.
As graduation is usually at the football field, there will be some logistical changes for this year’s ceremony.
Parking: Parking will be available for all guests at the Derby High School/Derby Middle School campus. All lots on the campus will be open for parking. There will be a shuttle available for guests as well. The shuttle will run from the DHS/DMS campus down to entrance to the field house on Chatfield Street. The parking lot at Osbornedale State Park will be reserved for staff and the Class of 2019. Please do not park on the street.
Seating: For this year’s ceremony, guests will be invited to sit on chairs that will be placed on the field behind the graduates. Seats on the field will not be reserved, additional seating will be available along the first and third base sides of the field (please note that these seats will be behind the field fence). Guests will only be able to access the field through the third base gate which will be monitored by school staff.
Please Note: High-heeled shoes will not be allowed on the field surface. high-heeled shoes may puncture the turf and may cause damage to the field surface. Please inform any guests that you may be inviting about this policy. Wedge style heeled shoes are permitted.
Guests who arrive at the field with high-heeled shoes will need to sit in the designated areas outside the field surface.
Entering Graduation: Guests will only be able to access the field through the third base gate. Guests will be able to enter the field using the new staircase (upper DHS/DMS parking lot) as well as a walkway on Chatfield Street.
It is strongly recommended that guests park in the DHS/DMS lots and access the field via the staircase (street parking will not be permitted for this event).
Guests may also access the field house walkway via Chatfield Street, but there is no parking in this area.
Guests using the shuttle bus will be dropped off in front of the field house.
Guests who are using a wheelchair or walker should make arrangements to be dropped off at the field house walkway located on Chatfield Street as there is no direct handicap parking at the facility due to construction.

Additional Notes:
- No food or drink, except for water, is permitted on the field surface
- No “silly string” or confetti “poppers” will be permitted on the field surface
- Guests using a wheelchair will have designated seating – please contact Derby High School with any questions 203 – 736-5032.
