The Young Democrats of America (YDA) endorsed Kara Rochelle in the 104th District race for state representative.
YDA “mobilizes people under the age of 36 to participate in the electoral process, influence and reform the ideals of the Democratic Party, advocate for current issues, and train the next generation to lead.”
Not all Democrats, or Young Democrats, are endorsed. There is a rigorous application and interview process—candidates must show a record and commitment to bringing newcomers and fresh energy into the party. State and more grassroots local Chapters, like the Naugatuck Valley Young Democrats, are the body and spirit of the organization, bringing fresh energy and ideas to the table for our communities.
“The Young Democrats of America is always proud of young Democratic candidates running for office, but we’re even more thrilled when one of our members steps up. Kara Rochelle has done pivotal work as founder of the Naugatuck Valley Young Democrats and Executive Vice President of the Connecticut Young Democrats. She has been an inspiring leader in our organization, and she will be an outstanding advocate for our generation in the Connecticut House of Representatives,” said Louis Elrod, president, Young Democrats of America.
CTYD consists of members all over the state, who have varied backgrounds and views within the Democratic party.
“The Connecticut Young Democrats proudly support Kara Rochelle for State Representative. She has shown a strong commitment to engaging young people in politics and public service. She has consistently proven her passion and dedication to helping people, particularly those less represented, build political power in their local communities. Her character, along with her valuable experience in the nonprofit world, will make her an exceptional lawmaker. We are confident Kara’s election would be a win for the people of her community,” said Kim Glassman, president of CTYD.
