Search And Homicide Investigation Continue In Ansonia

ANSONIA — There will be no press conference Monday to update the public on the search for Vanessa Morales, the 1‑year-old girl who was last seen Friday, Nov. 28.

Anyone with information on Vanessa’s whereabouts should call the FBI at 203 503 5555 or Ansonia police at 203 735 1885.

Melissa’s mother, Christine Holloway, 43, was found dead inside their Myrtle Avenue house the evening of Monday, Dec. 2. She died from blunt-force trauma and her death was ruled a homicide.

Police are searching for Holloway’s killer.

No suspects have been identified.

On Monday (Dec. 9) Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said police continue to follow leads police have been receiving in connection to both the missing child case and the killing of the toddler’s mother.

He said Ansonia police are looking for any videos, such as personal home security footage, from people who live on Mrytle Avenue in Ansonia. Specifically they are looking for footage shot between Friday, Nov. 29 and the evening of Monday, Dec. 2.

Police returned to the Myrtle Avenue house doing follow-ups for the investigation,” Lynch said.

Vanessa’s mother, Christine, was the eldest of five siblings and was born with a nurturing spirit, according to her obituary. She had a degree in psychology, was a parishioner at St. Andrew’s Church in Bridgeport, and worked at Bright Morning Star Child Care” in Bridgeport.

Holloway’s wake is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave. in Bridgeport.

Vanessa’s father was arrested Dec. 3 on weapons charges at his New Haven residence after Ansonia police served a search and seizure warrant connected to Holloway’s death/homicide investigation. 

Police allegedly found two stun guns, according to an arrest report, and called New Haven police because the father is not allowed to possess weapons since his is a convicted felon. New Haven police arrested the father, who is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Ansonia police also served a search and seizure warrant on the father’s person,” according to the arrest document. No information on that has been released.

Police said last week the father was cooperative.
