SEYMOUR — Firefighters Monday rescued a kitten trapped in a Hyundai’s engine.

Firefighters were called about 11 p.m. to rescue the kitten, which was removed without injury, according to a press release from the department.

The Hyundai’s owner called for help after hearing the animal’s cries.

Seymour Fire Department Chief Chris Edwards removed the vehicle’s air filter box to get the kitten out.

It took about 10 minutes to free the kitten, which was taken to the VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, a 24-hour animal hospital in Shelton.

The animal was not injured.

It was not clear who owned the kitten.
