Seymour Teen Faces Drug Charges


A 15-year-old Seymour High School student was arrested on drug charges Thursday after allegedly bringing liquid marijuana to school inside a vape stick.

Multiple” students smoked — and school officials suddenly had a medical emergency on their hands.

Initially one student became ill after using it, but several” more students also said they weren’t feeling well after vaping, according to prepared statements from the school district and the police department.

WTNH reported half a dozen” students needed medical attention after vaping. An early report from the station is embedded above.

Police and medics were called to the scene and the students in the school were placed into a Stay Put” scenario while staff and emergency responders pieced together what happened.

A drug-sniffing dog searched the school as well.

No serious injuries were reported.

The 15-year-old student was charged with risk of injury to a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal distribution of marijuana.

The student’s name was not released. The suspect now has a case pending in juvenile court. Those proceedings are closed to the public.
