Shelton Bank Robbed At Gunpoint

SHELTON POLICEShelton police are asking the public to help identify a man who robbed a Bridgeport Avenue bank at gunpoint Tuesday (May 30).

In a prepared statement, Shelton Police Detective Richard Bango said that about 12:30 p.m., police received a hold-up alarm from the People’s Bank inside the Stop and Shop at 898 Bridgeport Ave.

A few moments later a 911 call was received from the bank that an armed robbery did occur,” Bango said.

Bango said a white man with a scruffy beard and dirty blonde hair approached a female teller and showed a dark semi-automatic handgun.

The man demanded cash from both of the tellers on duty, Bango said.

The tellers complied and the male left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Bango said. Upon exiting the store the male hugged the building staying out of view of exterior surveillance cameras.”

Police released two photos of the suspect captured by surveillance cameras inside the building.

They asked that anyone who recognizes the man depicted in the photographs or has any information to contact police at 203 – 924-1544.
