Here’s the weekly review of responses from the Shelton Fire Department, courtesy of fire marshal James Tortora:

On 12/31/18 at 7:19 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Conti Realty Building at #415 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Steam from a vent pipe caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 12/31/18 at 9:43 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #39 Lynne Terrace for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.

On 12/31/18 at 5:12 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a Coram Avenue at Hill Street for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/01/19 at 5:01 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the market Place Plaza at #405 Bridgeport Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 01/01/19 at 1:07 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #150 Center Street for a public service call. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/01/19 at 2:27 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #35 Rolling Brook Lane for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Smoke from a fireplace caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 01/01/19 at 3:43 pm Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #41 Long Hill Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/02/19 at 11:13 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of #158 Leavenworth Road for a power line down. An engine responded.

On 01/02/19 at 12:30 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #38 Longmeadow Road to assist police with a carbon monoxide incident. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/02/19 at 1:30 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Hyatt House Hotel at #830 Bridgeport Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. Dust from maintenance on an air duct caused the alarm. A ladder truck responded.

On 01/02/19 at 2:42 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to Benchmark Assisted Living Complex at #708 Bridgeport Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. A ladder truck responded.

On 01/02/19 at 3:17 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Big Y Store parking lot for a public service call; lockout. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/02/19 at 7:39 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #56 Mulberry Lane for a chimney fire. There was no damage as a result. Four engines, a ladder truck and a rescue pumper responded.

On 01/03/19 at 10:47 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #87 North Street for a structure fire. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the from door of a single family two story wood frame structure. Firefighters entered and extinguished the fire on the second floor but not before the fire caused significant damage to the home. The lone occupant was safely out of the home when firefighters arrived. The fire started in the kitchen and was caused when oil being heated on the stove ignited when left accidentally unattended. The fire gutted the kitchen and the rest of the home sustained smoke and water damage. The home was deemed uninhabitable by the building official. Three engines and two ladder trucks responded from Shelton. An engine responded from Monroe to assist. 

On 01/03/19 at 4:52 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Maple Avenue for an illegal open burning. An engine responded.

On 01/04/19 at 7:58 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #7 Acadia Lane for an odor of natural gas in a building. An engine, a rescue engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 01/04/19 at 8:41 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #64 Cliff Street for an illegal open burning. An engine responded.

On 01/04/19 at 10:58 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #212 Prospect Street for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.

On 01/04/19 at 5:02 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Bridgeport Avenue and Constitution Boulevard South for motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/04/19 at 10:10 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Sports Center at #784 River Road for a brush fire in the rear of the property. An engine responded.

On 01/05/19 at 10:56 am the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #11 Inwood Court for a public service call. An engine responded.

On 01/05/19 at 3:44 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to River Road at Moulthrop Drive for a motor vehicle accident. A rescue pumper responded.

On 01/06/19 at 12:21 pm the Huntington Fire Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Commerce Drive for an electrical hazard; transformer fire. An engine and a rescue engine responded.

On 01/06/19 at 4:23 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Huntington Fire Co. #3 responded to #33 Country Walk Condominiums off Buddington Road for a chimney fire. The fire was out upon arrival of fire units. An engine, a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.

On 01/07/19 at 00:44 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #30 Fairmont Place for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. An engine responded.
