Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from last week.
On 07/24/17 at 7:33 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #41 Basking Brook Lane for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. A problem with the furnace was the cause of the alarm. Two engines responded.
On 07/24/17 at 8:08 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a report of a power line down on East Village Road near Village Drive. An engine responded.
On 07/24/17 at 1:53 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of a power line down on Long Hill Avenue near Long Hill Cross Road. A utility truck responded.
On 07/24/17 at 3:48 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a small fire in mulch at the front of the Shoprite Supermarket at #875 Bridgeport Avenue. Two engines responded.
On 07/25/17 at 8:00 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south at exit 14. A rescue truck responded.
On 07/25/17 at 9:54 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Big Y Supermarket at #401 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A tower truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 07/25/17 at 9:54 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Park Co #4 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at #375 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. A tower truck and a ladder truck responded.
On 07/25/17 at 12:51 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to the Hilton Garden Inn at #25 Old Stratford Road for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. a tower truck responded.
On 07/25/17 at 5:43 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #39 Deerfield Drive for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. One engine responded.
On 07/26/17 at 9:33 am the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to responded to smoke in the house at #22 Cali Drive. A problem with a washing machine caused the smoke. Two engines responded.
On 07/26/17 at 1:30 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle fire on Route 8 south at exit 12. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
On 07/26/17 at 6:51 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to an automatic fire alarm sounding at the Wicke Health Care Center #584 Long Hill Avenue. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 07/27/17 at 10:07 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle fire on Route 8 south at exit 12. One engine and two rescue trucks responded.
On 07/27/17 at 2:54 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a house fire at #112 Cliff Street. Upon arrival firefighters observed heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two family structure. Firefighters entered and extinguished a fire in a bedroom on the second floor. The fire was under control in minutes but not before causing extensive fire and smoke damage to the rest of the home. There were no injuries and all occupants were safely out of the home. Two engines, a rescue truck, a ladder truck and a tower truck responded.
On 07/27/17 at 2:22 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle fire on South Constitution Boulevard. One engine responded.
On 07/27/17 at 7:23 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 8 south at exit 12. Two engines responded.
On 07/28/17 at 6:08 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle fire on Route 8 north on the exit 12 off ramp. One engine responded.
On 07/28/17 at 10:09 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a report of smoke in the area of Howe Avenue and Hull Street. No smoke or fire was found.
On 07/28/17 at 12:52 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded #384 Howe Avenue for a smoke detector sounding in an apartment. There was no fire. One engine responded.
On 07/29/17 at 02:13 am the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Mohegan Road at Clinton Drive. One engine and two rescue trucks responded.
On 07/29/17 at 11:06 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Talalay Global Company at #510 River Road. There was no fire. aAtower truck responded.
On 07/29/17 at 11:49 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to a fire alarm sounding at #88 Long Hill Cross Road. There was no fire. One tower responded.
On 07/29/17 at 2:35 pm the White Hills Co. #5 responded to a brush fire on Leavenworth Road at Birdseye Road. One engine responded.
On 07/30/17 at 3:43 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to a fire alarm sounding at the Wild Kanji at #514 Bridgeport Avenue. There was no fire. One engine and a ladder truck responded.
On 07/30/17 at 11:28 am the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Longmeadow Road. The accident left a utility pole hanging by its wires. An engine and a rescue truck responded.
