Shelton Fire Department Weekly Calls

Shelton Fire Marshal James Tortora submitted the following summary of the Shelton Volunteer Fire Department’s calls from the last week.

On 07/01/18 at 12:37 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of #201 Bridgeport Avenue for a power line on fire on top of a utility pole. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/01/18 at 12:50 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4, White Hills Co. #5 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to 3183 Grove Street for smoke in the attic. Firefighters found the smoke was from a burnt up motor on an attic exhaust fan. Four engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/01/18 at 9:11 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #19 High Ridge Road for a carbon monoxide detector sounding. An engine responded.

07/03/18 at 11:27 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to BH Care at #579 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 07/03/18 at 3:51 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #9 Jenyfer Court for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/03/18 at 7:19 pm the White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Maria V’s Restaurant at #220 Leavenworth Road for an odor of natural gas outside the building. Firefighters found a leak in a rooftop gas supply line. The gas was shut off until repairs could be made. An engine, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/04/18 at 11:05 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #38 Capitol Drive for smoke in the house. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine, a rescue truck and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/04/18 at 1:06 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the area of #336 Walnut Tree Hill Road for a motor vehicle accident. An engine responded.

On 07/04/18 at 1:56 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Hilton garden Inn at #25 Old Stratford Road for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/04/18 at 2:43 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to#17 Geissler Drive for a gas grill fire. The fire was out upon arrival of fire units. An engine responded.

On 07/04/18 at 3:22 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #550 Asbury Ridge Road to assist EMS. An engine responded.

On 07/04/18 at 5:00 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #11 Woodfield Drive for a low hanging wire across the road. An engine responded.

On 07/04/18 at 6:01 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #23 Andrew Drive for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/04/18 at 6:58 pm the Huntington Co. #3, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #23 Andrew Drive for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/04/18 at 10:06 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #85 Oak Avenue to assist EMS with removal of a patient. A rescue truck responded.

On 07/05/18 at 11:13 am the White Hills Co. #5 responded to Sawmill City Road for a power line down in the road. An engine responded.

On 07/05/18 at 12:24 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the Helen DeVaux Housing Complex at #91 Howe Avenue for a fire alarm sounding. There was no fire. Smoke from cooking caused the alarm. An engine responded.

On 07/05/18 at the White Hills Co. #5, Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Huntington Co. #3 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Leavenworth Road at Walnut Tree Hill Road. An engine and a rescue truck responded.

On 07/05/18 at the Huntington Co. #3, White Hills Co. #5 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to #19 Lisa Drive for a fire in an attached garage. The fire was out upon arrival of firefighters. An electrical overload was the cause of the fire which caused moderate damage. Three engines, a ladder truck and a rescue truck responded.

On 07/06/18 at 5:22 am the Echo Hose Co. #1, Pine Rock Co. #4 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #70 Wells Avenue for an odor of smoke in the house. Firefighters determined the odor was from a furnace problem. Two engines and a ladder truck responded.

On 07/06/18 at 9:20 am the Huntington Co. #3 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to the Elizabeth Shelton School at #138 Willoughby Road for a fire alarm activation. There was no fire. An engine responded.

On 07/06/18 at 11:24 am the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to #457 Asbury Ridge Road for a carbon monoxide detector activation. An engine responded.

On 07/06/18 at 6:35 pm the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the area of #32 Soundridge Road for a power line arcing. An engine responded.

07/07/18 at 8:43 am the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the White Hills Co. #5 responded to #17 Perry Avenue for a fire that occurred on a kitchen stove. An engine and a ladder truck responded.

On 0707/18 at 12:42 pm the Echo Hose Co. #1 and the Pine Rock Co. #4 responded to the area of #30 Wakelee Avenue for an electrical problem on a utility pole. An engine responded.

On 07/07/18 at 12:56 pm the Huntington Co. #3 and the Echo Hose Co. #1 responded to Route 8 north near exit 12 for a street sweeper on fire. Two engines responded.

On 07/07/18 at 8:51 pm the Huntington Co. #3 responded to #588 Booth Hill Road for a carbon monoxide detector activated. An engine responded.
