Shelton Police Ask For Help To ID Purse Thief

Shelton police are asking for the public’s help in identifying someone who stole a purse from an 86-year-old woman.

In a prepared statement, Detective Richard Bango said the woman was shopping at the Shop Rite store at 875 Bridgeport Ave. about 3:30 p.m. May 8 and walked away from her cart, leaving her purse inside.

The purse was then stolen by a woman depicted in the surveillance photographs above, who left the property in a blue Ford Explorer and used the woman’s credit card fraudulently at the nearby TJ Maxx.

If anyone recognizes the woman or vehicle in the photographs they are urged to contact the Shelton Police Department at 203 – 924-1544,” Bango said.
