Ansonia police arrested two teens wanted for murder in Texas.
According to a prepared statement from Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch, Giuseppe Briguglio, 19, of Katy, Texas, and a 17-year-old female whose name was not released were taken into custody late Thursday after being located on Beverly Drive in Ansonia.
They were charged locally as fugitives from justice.
Police did not elaborate on how police tracked the pair to Ansonia, but The Shelton Herald reported that the 17-year-old female formerly attended Shelton High School.
They were taken into custody about 10 p.m.
“The Stafford Texas Police Department holds arrest warrants for Briguglio and the juvenile, charging each of them with murder,” Lynch said in a statement. “The juvenile was also reported to be a missing person.”
The murder happened Jan. 1, 2018. Additional details on the killing were not immediately available.
Briguglio is being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on the local charge in Superior Court in Derby later today (Jan. 12).
“The 17 year-old female juvenile was taken to Juvenile Detention to be held for extradition to Texas,” Lynch said.
