Plenty Of Paczkis Punished During Ansonia's Annual Eating Event

Manny “The Manimal” Cambra basks in the thrill of victory.

ANSONIA — Manny The Manimal” Cambra, the gluttonous grinder from parts unknown (though it might be Bethel), once again won the City of Ansonia’s annual paczki-eating contest.

The Manimal downed 11 of the overstuffed donuts, then did a tumblesault into a boxing ring inside the Ansonia Armory to accept his paczki crown from Ansonia Mayor David Cassetti. Cambra previously won the eating competition in 2015, 2016, and 2021.

Valley Indy TV: Derby Tax Board Meeting Of Jan. 24, 2023

DERBY — The Valley Indy recently did a live stream broadcast during which the Jan. 24 meeting of the Derby Board of Apportionment and Taxation was heard.

Shelton Police Release Body Camera Footage In Connection To Arrest

SHELTON — The Shelton Police Department on Friday released body camera footage in connection to the Dec. 29, 2022 arrest of a 27-year-old man.

About 30 minutes of footage is included, along with two news stories, in the latest episode of Navel Gazing: The Valley Indy Podcast.’

Shelton police on Friday said they were sent to a residence after an anonymous tip saying that a woman was in a domestic situation,” as relayed through a coded text message from the victim to the anonymous tipster.

Mayor Cassetti, John Marini And Sheila O'Malley Talk Demolition In Downtown Ansonia

ANSONIA — Mayor David Cassetti, corporation counsel John Marini and economic development director Sheila O’Malley participated in a live interview with The Valley Indy on Thursday to talk about the potential redevelopment of about 60 acres of former factory space in the center of downtown Ansonia.

The trio also answered questions about crime, whether a new tenant will move into the old Big Y space on Main Street, and an effort to find grant money to turn the Ansonia Armory into a community center.
