SEYMOUR – Here are some highlights from the Seymour Police Department’s calls for service from March 17, 2025 through March 23, 2025.
It is a partial list of calls, curated by The Valley Indy. The goal is to give the public a head’s up on what’s happening in the community.
Note: generally, this publication does not post the names of people charged with misdemeanors; the names of victims; or numbered residential addresses. If we publish a suspect’s name, we track the case.
Seymour police received 149 calls for service and made eight arrests between March 17, 2025 and March 23, 2025.

SEYMOUR –While not casting a formal vote, members of the Seymour Board of Finance on Wednesday (March 19) came to a “consensus” on a budget for fiscal year 2025 – 2026 that will be presented to residents at a public hearing on Tuesday (March 25).
The board members agreed on a $69.2 million budget, which carries a spending increase of $2.9 million, or 4.34 percent, above the current, $66.4 million budget.
The $69.2 million bottom line combines two budgets: $27.1 million for the town and $42.1 million for Seymour Public Schools.

Griffin Health’s Valley Goes Pink initiative will host Par for Pink on May 20 at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford to support The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital.
OXFORD – Griffin Health’s Valley Goes Pink initiative will host its 4th Annual Par for Pink golf fundraiser on Tues., May 20 at The Golf Club at Oxford Greens in Oxford. The fundraiser will feature a 9‑hole round of golf starting at 9 a.m. and lunch. Proceeds will benefit The Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital.

SEYMOUR – The state Department of Transportation (DOT) is buying land along the railroad tracks downtown as officials ready for upgrades to the train station.
The Seymour Board of Selectpersons voted 4 – 2 March 4 to sell land at 150 Main St. and 170 Main St. to the state DOT for $196,300.
The DOT also purchased a privately-owned parking lot at 124 Main St. for $470,000. The lot is across from 115 Main St., the former Bank of America location.
The land at 150 Main St. is a 27-space parking lot at the train station. The land at 124 Main St. is a 21-space parking lot. There are no parking spaces at 170 Main St.

NAUGATUCK – Do you have paints, cleaners, and other chemicals in your home that you need to dispose of? The Naugatuck Valley Council of Governments (NVCOG) and participating municipalities will sponsor a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and Paint Collection event on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Naugatuck Transfer Station 34 Andrew Ave., Naugatuck, CT 06770.
The collection is open to residents of the following communities: Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Derby, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Prospect, Seymour, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott, and Woodbury. There is no charge to residents.
Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, tax bill, or other identification, is required for entry. There is no need to line up before the 8 a.m. start time.
Work will be in the daytime, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Both northbound and southbound traffic lanes have moved to the right shoulder to create a work area for median barrier replacement between Exit 20 and 22 (New Exits 17 – 18), and to create a second work area for median barrier replacement after Exit 22 (New Exit 18).
Median barrier and median drainage are being replaced.
Pipe repair and lining activities will continue throughout, northbound and southbound from Exit 15 to 22 (New Exits 12B-18).
