Gregory E. “Weezer” Venice
posted: Jan 21, 2019 7:37 am
Gregory E. “Weezer” Venice, age 55, unexpectedly entered into eternal rest on January 17, 2019. He was the beloved husband of thirty-four years to Diana Kwiatkowski Venice, his high school sweetheart.
Greg was born in Derby on May 5, 1963, the son of Girard and Sharon Carey Venice of Sanford, NC. A resident of Ansonia since 1988, he was employed at Standard Oil in Bridgeport for thirty-five years as an auto mechanic and currently fleet manager.
Greg was former president and current vice president of St. Sebastian Club in Ansonia. He was also a member of the V.F.W. in Derby. Greg was a diehard NASCAR and Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid fan of the NY Knicks and NY Mets. He was the family “grill master” at every family function and enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards and just being with family and friends. Greg loved life and had a heart of gold.
In addition to his wife Diana and parents, Girard and Sharon, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, David C. Venice (Taylor) of Derby, a daughter, Jaclyn Laneuville (Josh) of Oxford, a brother, Christopher Venice (Joyce) of Simsbury, cherished grandchildren affectionately knew him as “Poppa”, Joshua and Jace Laneuville and Jaxon and Emerie Venice, father-in-law, John Kwiatkowski of Ansonia, many nieces and nephews and several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit on Wednesday January 23, 2019, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Diana to assist with final expenses.
