Ansonia, CT – Effective January 1, 2022, the Ansonia Tax Office will begin charging an additional flat fee of $20.00 for an immediate motor vehicle release per taxpayer.
This fee will be added at the time the taxpayer has requested an immediate release and processed when payment in full is received. If an immediate release is not requested, taxpayers will be released at the end of the third business day from the date payment is received in full.
All outstanding vehicle taxes, in a taxpayer’s name, must be paid in full by cash, money order, or bank check in order for the release to be issued. Releases for online payments will also be issued by the end of the third business day from the date payment is received in full.
If taxes are paid after the due date, please contact the tax office prior to visiting a dealer, the Department of Motor Vehicles, or renewing a registration online and allow ample time for the release to be completed.
