A Message From The Seymour Police Department

SEYMOUR — A message from the Seymour Police Department:

During this unprecedented time, the men and women of the Seymour Police Department continue to serve the community.

Our goals are to provide high visibility through frequent patrols, safeguard lives and property, protect the community and we want you to know that our officers are ready to respond when called upon.

As the COVID-19 (NOVEL CORONAVIRUS) continues to spread, Police Departments across the country are forced to make changes to operating procedures. In an attempt to prevent the spread and protect our officers and the community, the Seymour Police Department has temporarily changed how we will respond to non-emergency calls for service.

To prevent spread, we are asking that you do not enter the Seymour Police Department Lobby unless it is an emergency. If you must come to the department, we ask that you CALL AHEAD 203 – 881-7600.

Effective Immediately (Non-Emergency Only)

-To file a non-emergency complaint, we ask that you continue to call the routine line (203 – 881-7600) to speak with a dispatcher. The dispatcher will take your information and determine how the complaint will be received.

-If the complaint meets certain criteria and can be taken over the phone, the dispatcher will notify an officer who will call you back to gather all pertinent case information.

-If the complaint cannot be taken over the phone due to the nature of the call, then an officer will be dispatched to the scene.

-All requests for fingerprinting have been temporarily suspended.

-If you need a copy of a police report, please call records at 203 – 881-7612 or email cspaulding@seymourpolice.org.

These temporary changes will not affect how the Seymour Police Department responds to emergency calls for service. If there is an emergency dial 911. We thank you for your cooperation and hope that you all remain safe and healthy during this public health emergency.
