A Note From Oxford’s First Selectman

First Selectwoman Mary Ann Drayton-Rogers sent along the following e‑mail Tuesday morning:

Oxford Town Hall is opening at 9 a.m.

Employees are expressing relieve and happiness to be coming back to work. Jackie Orner, Tax Collector has to close out the month of October and has reports to complete; Marge West, Town Clerk was worried about sending out absentee ballot applications and forms; Payroll needs to prepare paychecks and pay town invoices. The need for a generator at town hall has shown just how critical it is twice this year — once during the hurricane event and now during this winter storm emergency. I will ask our grant writer to apply once again for funds to purchase a generator and hopefully the board of finance will approve it this time around.”

The Senior Center appears to still be without power. All residents, including seniors, should be aware that the Quaker Farms emergency shelter remains open. they should take advantage of the warmth, food, hot drinks and companionship the facility has to offer as well as a place to charge cell phones.

The BOS Open House will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM
Cake and coffee will be served.
