Adams Donating To Derby Fireworks Display

Adams Hometown Market on New Haven Avenue is continuing its efforts to raise money for the 2010 Derby Fireworks.

The city is not funding this year’s fireworks show.

City officials have been collecting donations from area businesses for the display, which costs roughly $11,500.

Mayor Anthony Staffieri’s office announced Monday that on Wednesday, May 19, Adams will donate 5 percent of the money from items sold between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to the fireworks fund.

That doesn’t include the sale of beer, cigarettes, Western Union order, money orders or postage stamp purchases.

The Derby Fire Department has been using Adams’ property to sell hot dogs in order to raise money for the show.

The firefighters are expected to be at the location again Saturday, May 22.

Adams is at 656 New Haven Ave.
