A Shelton man faces two criminal charges after allegedly threatening to shoot employees in City Hall.
Police said Angel Loyola, 51, of Ridge Lane, was speaking to employees in the assessor’s office Thursday about a tax credit. Employees explained that he wasn’t eligible for the tax credit, police said.
Loyola became angry and mentioned getting a gun and shooting everyone, police said.
City Hall employees called police. Loyola left the building.
Trabka said police were at City Hall interviewing the employees until the building closed.
Trabka said Loyola has complained about the tax credit several times and has been growing increasingly frustrated.
Police then interviewed Loyola at his residence. He said he was upset, said he mentioned a gun, but said his statement was taken out of context, according to police.
He’s charged with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
He was released from custody on a written promise to appear in Superior Court April 25.
