American Legion Gives Comic Books To Ansonia Students

Photo: Ethan FryRepresentatives from the American Legion Gordon-Visselli Post 50, Ansonia were at Prendergast School Friday (Nov. 1) to deliver 800 comic books to the school.

The comic books teach students about American history and veterans, and also tackle topics like fighting bullies.

American Legion Post 50 members Arthur Ballantyne and Patrick Henri stopped by one first-grade class to hand out copies of one of the comic books, I Pledge Allegiance,” to students. They then led the class in the pledge.

The other titles donated Friday were Light of Liberty,” Bridging the Gap,” and Our Country’s Veterans.”

The mission of the American Legion is based on the four pillars of: Veterans’ Affairs, National Security, Americanism, and Youth.

The students, as well as Principal Joe Apicella and Vice Principal Sherrod McNeill, thanked Ballantyne and Henri for the comic books at the end of the visit.
