It’s that time again: make a contribution to the American Legion and take a Poppy.
The American Legion Auxiliary, David S. Miles Unit 174 will begin to distribute red paper poppies made by veterans, at the doors of stores around Oxford, beginning May 1.
Contributions help veterans and their families with money, particularly those who are hospitalized and disabled.
The red poppy symbolizes the sacrifices veterans have made and represents the hope that nobody died in vain.
Please lend your support to this vital endeavor to help our veterans who have in some cases given their all to allow us our freedom.
Volunteers will be at the following locations:
- Fritz’s Snak Bar on May 12 13, 26 and 27.
- Warsaw Park Bikers Weekend Bash May 5 and 6.
- Naugatuck Savings Bank Oxford on May 5 and 19.
- Oxford Hardware on May 19
