The Gordon-Visselli American Legion Post 50 of Ansonia has set up a 9/11 memorial at Veterans Park next to Ansonia City Hall. It represents the twin towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and Flight 93 that crash landed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Flight 93 is represented by the keystone shape since Pennsylvania is known as “The Keystone State”.
The public is invited to view the memorial to reflect on that tragic day, remember those who were lost, and contemplate how it changed our personal lives, our country and the world.
Flowers or other tokens of respect and remembrance can be left at the base of the memorial, which will be in place until Saturday.
Post 50 is honored to give attention to this day, lest we forget.
Post 50 will be having its next meeting on Thursday, September 12 at 7:00 PM. New members are always welcome. For more information on joining and Post activities, please contact Commander Mike Heise at 203 – 308-7845.
