Ansonia Alderman: Vote For Logan, Jaumann

Ansonia residents Joe Jaumann and George Logan are political newcomers who bring outstanding backgrounds with them as they vie for seats in the Connecticut State House that have been occupied for decades by Democratic incumbents.

In this year of presidential campaign turmoil, let us keep in mind that our state political races are no less important than the national election. How we are taxed, how your money is spent, the state’s business climate, and funding for schools are just a few issues that are handled in Hartford by your elected officials. If you have decided not to vote for President, please come out to support your state candidates as well as voting FOR the new Ansonia Police Station and the bonding items. Collectively, they will enhance the quality of life in Ansonia and attract new businesses and homeowners.

Three years ago, Ansonia residents took a risk, many leaving their comfort zones, and voted for the Republican challenger, Mayor David Cassetti. Likewise, the same was done with much of the Board of Aldermen, giving Republicans an energetic majority that was ready to turn Ansonia around. As we witnessed then, and reaffirmed in last November’s landslide municipal elections, Ansonia residents are happy with the risk they took and remain encouraged by the barrage of positive results and upswing of pride in the community.

We now must look to our state offices where long time incumbents, deeply entrenched in Connecticut’s Democratic Party majority, need an extreme makeover. We have seen what new people with new ideas and vision have done and continue to do for Ansonia. The results were immediate and show no signs of slowing. Now we must take the same sort of risk to put old familiar faces out to pasture and bring in Ansonia residents Joe Jaumann and George Logan to help regain the Republican majority in the State House and let Governor Malloy know that Connecticut needs a new direction.

Joe Jaumann is running for State Representative, 104th District, which consists of Ansonia and part of Derby, against the 12-year incumbent. George Logan is running for State Senator against the 24-year incumbent from Woodbridge. Since four of the seven towns within the 17th District are in the Valley, it would make sense and prove valuable to have our State Senate seat filled by George Logan, who lives in the Valley.

Both Jaumann and Logan have impressive educational, professional and volunteer backgrounds, and boast young families. These neighbors of ours have stepped up to campaign against career politicians because Connecticut is broken and needs to be fixed. Our families deserve much better than a state with high taxes, a poor business environment, and the reneging of state funds for our schools.

Please consider breathing new life into Connecticut, just as was done in Ansonia. Joe Jaumann and George Logan are the new generation of candidates who are ready to go to work for you.
