“Year four of Mayor David Cassetti’s war on graffiti” started May 10, according to a post on the City of Ansonia’s Facebook page.
The city is teaming with Trans Clean of Stratford to target about 60 graffiti “tags” on buildings in Ansonia.
“This time, many nuisance tags on streets signs and utility poles will be professionally removed, not painted over. Other recent tags made on private property, businesses, churches and historic city sites will also be removed,” according to the post.
“The best way to combat graffiti is to remove it as quickly as it goes up,” said Mayor Cassetti. “To date, I think this game plan has worked well.”
More than 400 tags have been removed since 2017, not including the nearly half mile of heavy graffiti the mayor had removed from the flood control wall that scarred it for decades, according to the press release.

“Each of the last three year’s price tag for graffiti removal has come from business donations made to the Mayor’s Beautification Fund which is overseen by Director of Constituent Services Greg Martin,” according to the city’s Facebook pose.
