Update: Man Dies In Ansonia Crash

photo:ethan fryA motorist died after an undisclosed medical condition behind the wheel, Ansonia police reported Tuesday.

The man, whose name was not available, crashed his vehicle on North Main Street in front of St. Anthony’s Church.

Police suspect the man had a medical issue while driving, which may have caused the wreck.

Initial radio reports indicated the man may have had a heart attack.

A male had a serious medical emergency and crashed on North Main,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota, the department’s spokesman, said in an email. No one else was injured and the incident is still under investigation.”

The accident was reported about 9:30 a.m. and involved three cars which were still at the scene about noon as cops investigated the crash.

Police closed North Main Street was between North State Street and Fourth Street while investigating the accident.
