Ansonia Crash Sends Two People To Hospital

A head-on crash in Ansonia sent two people to the hospital Thursday. One person suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Names were not released as of 8:30 a.m. Friday. The wreck remains under investigation.

Police issued a statement on Facebook at about 1 a.m. saying emergency responders were sent to the area of 248 N. Main St. at about 9 p.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles with severe front end damage in the middle of the intersection of North Main Street and Forest Avenue,” police said.

The drivers of both vehicles were hurt.

The fire department had to use specialized cutting tools to free one of the drivers from the wreckage. Both were rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

“One operator sustained serious injuries and the other operator sustained life-threatening injuries,” police said.
