Ansonia Dems Call For Unity After Police Killing Of George Floyd

The recent events that occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25, 2020 have hit many of us with feelings of disgust and outrage. Acts of complete disregard for basic human rights should never be tolerated in America.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to George Floyd’s family and friends, as well as anyone who has been the victim of injustice.

We stand by our fellow Americans who demand justice for George Floyd’s death and for those involved to be punished under U.S. law. We also stand with those across our nation who are choosing not to remain silent and are peacefully protesting. Under the Constitution of the United States, we the people have every right to peacefully protest acts of injustice.

Acts of violence and racial injustice have no place in our communities and every American has the responsibility to stand up for what they believe in. We also stand with our law enforcement community who have shown compassion and respect to the citizens they are sworn to protect. We cannot fault entire groups for the actions of individuals. We should instead provide justice to those hurt and punish those responsible.

Many dark times in history have started with demands of revenge against groups of innocent people. It doesn’t matter what your race, profession, background, economic status, or religious affiliation is. We need to be united and respect our fellow Americans to fight injustice.

God Bless America and God Bless Ansonia.
