Ansonia Earth Day Clean-Up Planned

The City of Ansonia is holding its second annual city-wide clean-up in honor of Earth Day on April 17.

This event began last year with Mayor Della Volpe’s efforts to improve the image of our city and also encourage community involvement.

The clean-up will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon April 17. Participants will meet at Veterans’ Park next to city hall.

The city is relying on individuals along with our community’s organizations and officials to participate.

In conjunction with this clean-up, Ansonia Public Works will keep the transfer station open for extended hours on April 17.

It will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for residents to bring trash, brush, and other materials for disposal.

Earth Day began on April 22, 1970. It has since progressed into a world-wide event.

Locally, an Earth Day Celebration, on April 24, will be held at the Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center. This event is free and open to the public.

In the spirit of Earth Day, residents that cannot attend the event are asked to clean around their own homes and neighborhoods.
