Charters Hose Co. #4 volunteer fire department won first place at the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day parade for Volunteer Fire Department unit, according to volunteer firefighter Jerome Fainer.
Fainer, drillmaster for the volunteer firefighters marching in the parade, said the prize is based on overall appearance and marching style.
Charters Hose has won first and second places before Fainer said. He added that Webster Hose has also won awards at the parade.
“Both firehouses have made Ansonia proud,” Fainer said.
The parade took place in New Haven on March 13.
