An Ansonia gas station was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday, the third robbery incident at a local gas station in a week.
No one was injured.
Tuesday’s robbery occurred about 1 a.m., Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in a prepared statement.
“Upon officers arrival it was learned that the store had been robbed at gunpoint and that the suspect had fled with approximately $200,” Cota said.
Police described the suspect as a black male who may have been in his late teens, wearing a gray hoodie, black pants and white sneakers.
“The suspect was last seen running north out of the parking lot and toward the Dunkin Donuts in the Tri-town Plaza,” Cota’s statement said.
Ansonia and Seymour cops tried to locate the suspect but were unable to.
Cota said the robber had a large, gray handgun.
He said cops are working to obtain video footage and will release photos when they become available.
He asked anyone with information to contact the Ansonia Police at 203 – 735-1885.
Police on Tuesday also released a surveillance photo taken during a March 24 robbery at the XPress Mart at 180 Wakelee Ave.

In that case, a man walked into the store about 10:30 p.m. and robbed it at gunpoint, making off with about $200.
There were no injuries.
Police described the suspect in that case as a Hispanic male with dark curly hair and a clean shaven face, about 5‑foot‑6 and dressed in dark clothes.
The suspect was last seen fleeing east on Church Street.
Cota said at the time that cops were trying to determine whether that robbery was connected to an attempted stickup two days prior at a Main Street gas station.
In an e‑mail Tuesday, Cota said police believe the two most recent stick-ups are linked, “based on the general description of the suspect and the use of the handgun.”
