Ansonia Gov’t Buildings Are Closed To The Public

ANSONIA — Mayor David S. Cassetti announced Sunday that all City of Ansonia governmental offices will be closed to the general public from Monday, March 16 until Friday March 20.

The closure includes Ansonia City Hall and all other departments normally accessible to the public.

Residents will be able to access city staff and services via phone or online at cityofansonia.com.

A reassessment of the situation will be made by Friday, March 20th, at which a determination will be made as to whether the closure to the general public will continue.

The health and welfare of Ansonia residents is my top priority,” Cassetti said in a prepared statement. It is our hope that limiting access to city departments will help slow the spread of the dangerous COVID-19 virus and mitigate its impact here in Ansonia and the Valley area.”

Earlier this week, the City of Ansonia announced that all non-essential city meetings and events would be postponed or cancelled at federal, state and local officials continued to study best practices to combat the COVID-19 threat.

It is clear that the virus is active in the Valley area, and we are prepared to take all reasonable steps to limit its reach,” Cassetti said. While the limitation of city services may be frustrating, protecting our residents – especially those most vulnerable such as the elderly – must stand as a priority.
