ANSONIA HARVEST FESTIVAL IS OCTOBER 6

The City of Ansonia’s annual Harvest Festival is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2012.

The rain date is Oct. 13.

The all-day festival has a mammoth line-up of musical acts and family-friendly vendors.

And here are some of the activities planned!

  • Chris Clark a well-known bicyclist is a new attraction to this year’s festival and will perform bicycle stunts twice during the festival. Chris will be entertaining us at 12:00 and 2:00 P.M. on upper Main Street.
  • After the 12:00 performance, treat yourselves to our balloon stylist, Bryan Lizzotte who will be on hand to entertain you. Brian is well known throughout the Valley area and beyond and has entertained many times at Antonio’s Restaurant. So take the time and you’ll be sure to walk away with a balloon styled by Brian.
  • Also, be sure to check out the scarecrows along Main Street. They will be on display either in store windows or on the sidewalks. Blue Ribbons will be awarded and judged by the Valley Arts Council. (Greg Karas)
  • The Ansonia School system is involved in a pumpkin carving and decorating contest at Veteran’s Park and Blue Ribbons will be awarded at the event and announced on both stages at 3:45 p.m. The Human Relations Club under the leadership of Nick Collicelli and Lisa Nicolari are chairing this event.
  • The Cultural Commission is offering a chalk-drawing event on Water Street across from Veteran’s Park. Chalk will be provided and just use your imagination

Please note: All the above entertainment events and locations are subject to change prior to the festival. The Ansonia Cultural Com. Booth will have the current changes.

  • Amusement Rides by Rainbow Amusements will be setup behind The River Valley Baptist Church on lower Main Street. A Rock Wall Climb’ is always a hit at the Festival.
  • A car show will be held on Bridge Street from Fitzpatrick’s to JRBS. Jay Auscavitch, of Jay’s Auto Body, is chairing this event. Trophies will be awarded.
  • Be sure to check out the Bantam Band, strolling musicians, who will be entertaining everyone on lower Main Street from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
