Ansonia Police said a dispute between neighbors led a 73-year-old man to force his way into a Woodbridge Avenue residence Sunday morning and shoot another man.
The victim, a 39-year-old, “appeared to have been struck at least three times,” according to a prepared statement from police, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
Police identified the shooter as Steven Sentementes, who officers arrested at the scene.
Police said officers were dispatched to 97R Woodbridge Ave. about 9:15 a.m. Sunday on a report of a neighbor dispute involving a handgun.
“Upon officers ‘arrival they were directed to the residence and found two males inside of the residence,” Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said in a prepared statement. “One male was bleeding profusely from the lower leg area and said that he had been shot by his neighbor. The other male was identified as the shooter and was subsequently taken into custody. The suspect forced his way into the home and engaged in a dispute with the victim at the time of the shooting.”
The statement said the 39-year-old was struck in the buttocks, left leg, and right calf and transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.
Cops charged Sentementes with first-degree assault, second-degree burglary with a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
Police said Sentementes was being held on $500,000 bond Sunday.
