Ansonia Man Becomes Stuck Under Tub

A 58-year-old Ansonia man was taken to Griffin Hospital after his leg fell through a section of his bathroom floor.

Firefighters and police were sent to a multi-family house on Pershing Drive near Bridge Street after a call came in regarding a man who had fallen.

Water from the bathtub rotted a section of the floor away. The man’s leg went through the floor and became wedged under the bathtub and a pipe, according to Ansonia Fire Chief Ron Burgess, Sr.

The man was stuck in the floor until firefighters were able to free his leg. The ordeal, reported at about 9:30 a.m., took about 15 minutes to resolve.

The man suffered an injury to his back, but his injury is thought to be minor.

The city’s building inspector responded to the scene along with Ansonia police.

The man’s wife and son were home at the time of the accident.
