Feds and local police raided a Holbrook Court residence Monday as part of an expanding probe into steroid and illegal narcotic sales in the region.
Holbrook Court resident Lous Borrero, 52, is charged with a singe single count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone, an offense that carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $1 million.
Borrero was one of three people charged Thursday in connection to “Operation Juice Box,” an investigation that has already resulted in the arrest of an officer and a dispatcher at the Newtown Police Department and a state judicial marshal who lives in Ansonia.
Borrero has been released on bond, according to a prepared statement from federal prosecutors.
Also arrested Thursday were Guido Volpe, 36, of Prospect, and John Koch, 48, of Coventry.
Thursday’s arrests bring the number of total defendants in the investigation — dubbed “Operation Juice Box” by the feds — to 11, including five Valley residents.
The probe, which involved months of wiretaps and electronic surveillance, revealed the suspects allegedly imported steroids from China before distributing them, federal prosecutors said.
