An Ansonia man was arrested Saturday for allegedly harassing his ex-girlfriend while drinking at J.R.B’s restaurant.
Police said Richard Blakeman called or texted the Shelton woman 66 times while he was inside the bar.
Blakeman was charged with 66 counts of harassment, four counts of second-degree threatening, interfering with an officer and breach of peace.
He was arraigned at Superior Court in Derby Monday. Authorities did not elaborate on the nature of the threats.
“This involved some drinking,” public defender Bruce Weiant said during Blakeman’s arraignment. “He wants to let the court know he did not intend on carrying out anything. He was just talking while he was drunk.”
Blakeman was charged with interfering and breach of peace because he resisted the officers trying to handcuff him, Shelton police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said.
Judge Richard Arnold issued a protective order, which prohibits Blakeman from contacting the woman. His next court date is scheduled for March 3.
