ANSONIA — A 28-year-old man was charged with murder and risk of injury to a minor after allegedly killing his wife inside 73 Root Ave. Tuesday afternoon.
Kamil Zielinski is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Derby today (Wednesday, Nov. 10). His name and charges were discussed at a press conference at the Ansonia Police Department.
Police identified the victim Wednesday as Grace Zielinska, a mother of three children, ages 5, 3 and four months.
Police said they received an “open line” 911 call from the residence at about 1:40 p.m. Click here for a previous story.
The dispatcher could hear screaming, but the caller was unable to communicate what was happening.
“Officers were dispatched. The first officer on scene found a partially open door and could hear crying and yelling inside the home,” Ansonia police said in a prepared statement.

Police entered the residence and said they saw Zielinski next to his wife, who suffered severe injuries to her upper body. The initial emergency dispatches indicated a stabbing may have taken place but police would not confirm.
Police said Kamil Zielinski “made statements indicating he was responsible for the assault on Grace,” police said.
Two children — the three-year-old and the baby — were in the residence during the violence, police said. The Department of Children and Families are involved and making arrangements for the kids to be with other family members.
Grace Zielinska died at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Kamil Zielinski is being held on a $1 million bond.
