It sure doesn’t feel like Halloween given Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Frankenstorm/Hybrid Storm/Superstorm Sandy, but the spirit is still sort of in the air, right?
Here is a Q&A we did earlier this month with Ansonia’s Gerald Ambrose, who sent us a photo of a Halloween display he does every year.
This year it was the Beatles.
Gerald, sorry for the delay in getting this online — but we just drove by and saw the Beatles survived Sandy!.
Gerald lives on Westfield Avenue, in the area of house no. 127.

Valley Indy Sentinel: How old are you?
Gerald: 50
VIS: How long have you lived in Ansonia? My wife’s name is Kim, son – Gerald Jr. 17, daughter – Ashley 13
VIS: How long have you been building these displays?
Gerald: I have been making scarecrows since 1996 but started building displays the last 6 years.
VIS: Why do you do it?
Gerald:I have always enjoyed building different types of things. Since my wife loves Halloween so much I started making the displays to make Halloween more exciting.
VIS: Is Halloween your favorite holiday?
Gerald: It has always been my wife Kim’s favorite and has become mine.
VIS: What do people say when they come to your house on Halloween?
Gerald: People are amazed and always ask who made the scarecrows. They also say that they are wonderful and that the display is creative. All the trick-or-treaters enjoy taking pictures with the Halloween display. Many people come back every year to see the new display.
VIS: What made you go with the Beatles theme this year? — I was undecided, I listen to 102.9 DRC FM. On Sunday mornings they play The Beatles that is when I got the idea.
Gerald: Does anyone help you build these displays? — I have always made them myself. This year my son and daughter were the models helping me make the Beatles costumes.
VIS: That Ford you had last year — did you build that and if so, how long did it take? —
GeraldMy father-in-law has a 1922 model T. I took measurements and used all scrap wood I had. The tires are scrap from a Harley repair shock. It took about two weeks to complete.
VIS: Favorite Beatles tune?
Gerald: She Loves You.
