Ansonia Man Killed In Brookfield Crash

A 44-year-old Ansonia man driving the wrong way on Route 7 in Brookfield was killed in a head-on crash (Thursday) Feb. 6.

State police identified the man Friday as Alejandro Miranda, of Bassett Street.

Miranda was driving south in a Saturn in the northbound lanes of the road when he collided with a 2011 Jeep Wrangler being driven by a Brookfield man.

The crash happened about 11:45 p.m.

The Wrangler tried swerved to avoid Miranda’s car, according to a state police accident information summary, but the Wrangler’s left front tire ended up going up the Saturn’s hood, smashing the windshield and damaging the roof.

Miranda was declared dead at the scene.

The Wrangler’s driver complained of serious lower back pain and was taken to the hospital, as was a female passenger in the vehicle.

State police did not release further information, other than Miranda was at fault for the wreck.

The medical examiner’s office said the death was an accident and listed no other contributing factors.
