Belonozhko

An Ansonia man has pleaded not guilty to threatening a motorist in Derby.

Dmitry Belonozhko, 21, faces charges of attempted first-degree robbery, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, and second-degree reckless endangerment.

The alleged crime occurred March 28 in the area of Division Street,” according to a probable cause statement on file at Superior Court in Milford.

The statement says a person told police a white man had pulled on the passenger door of his vehicle in an attempt to open it.

At the same time, the person told police, the man was trying to pull a knife out from his waistband while stating Open the f***ing door or I’m going to f***ing kill you!”

The victim also gave police a description of the vehicle used by the suspect, including a license plate.

An officer found the vehicle, which was driven by Belonozhko. Cops allegedly found a six-inch fishing knife while searching the vehicle and took Belonozhko into custody.

Belonozhko was released after posting a $30,000 bond in the case. He is scheduled to return to Superior Court in Milford July 27.

Belonozhko’s lawyer, Karen Lydecker, declined to comment on the case Wednesday.
