Ansonia Man Wanted In Connection To Robbery, Shooting

Police are searching for a 22-year-old Ansonia man in connection to a robbery that left a person shot in the neck.

The victim survived and one suspect is already in custody, but police announced Tuesday (March 10) they’re searching for a second suspect, Daniel DJ” Spencer. His last known address was 4 Avon St. in Ansonia.

According to a prepared statement from Milford police, a group of people left Eli’s Tavern at 21 Daniel St. in Milford March 1 at about 1:40 a.m.

As they walked into a parking garage at 1 New Haven Ave., they were approached by Spencer and Rumone Richard, 23, of Bridgeport, according to police. The suspects tried to mug the group.

Richard allegedly shot one of the people in the neck. The person survived. One of the victims then pulled out a gun and shot Richard. He survived, too.

Spencer ran away, police said.

Two guns were recovered at the scene. The victim who shot Richard used a licensed firearm.

Richard is charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm and stealing a firearm.

Those charges are felonies, except illegal discharge, which is a misdemeanor.

Richard is due in court today (March 11).

Spencer, meanwhile, has seven other warrants for his arrest from separate incidents.
