Ansonia Police Announce Robbery Arrest

Lockhart

ANSONIA — Police charged a 21-year-old Bridgeport man in connection to an Oct. 21 armed robbery in the Target parking lot on West Main Street.

Police charged Michael Lockhart Nov. 5 with first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree criminal attempted robbery, second-degree larceny, second-degree criminal attempted larceny, and criminal use of a firearm.

According to police, Lockhart was involved in a scheme Oct. 21 to rob people in the parking lot. Police learned that the victims were meeting with the suspect to complete an online transaction. During the interaction, the suspect displayed a handgun and robbed the victims before fleeing in a light-colored vehicle,” police said in a statement immediately after the crime.

Ansonia police said they served two search warrants in Bridgeport at residences on East Main Street and Maplewood Avenue connected to the incident.

Police in Stratford and Bridgeport provided assistance to Ansonia police, along with the Connecticut State Police Gang Task Force and FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Lockhart is being held on a $150,000.00 bond and will be arraigned at Milford Superior Court on Nov. 6.

Police said additional arrests are expected, but that this incident is not connected to two other armed robberies last month.
